INSiiGHTS is a Tallahassee idea, formed and created to enhance sports stories to give an insightful view of inside occurrences. The brain thrust behind the concept is former collegiate basketball coach and administrator, Mickey Clayton. Mickey himself a 1975 FAMU graduate enlisted the help of some of his friends to develop a sports talk show that has now evolved into a local high school sports production that recently telecast their 100th television show on WCTV2. All of INSiiGHTS shows featuring over 200 high school games can be found on the INSiiGHTS YouTube page where all the games and live-streams can be found and are free.

INSiiGHTS Sports is a local company that concentrates on programs in the South Georgia and North Florida region. It is an example the vision of Mickey Clayton, collaborating with Gerald Tookes, Clayton Smith, Alvin Hollins, Jeff Walker and Sharon Bee (all from the Tallahassee area) to forge what is currently Florida’s longest running high school sports television show.

The support of local television entity, WCTV2 has been critical in providing an opportunity for the start-up company to host their content. Local sponsors have bought into the idea of supporting the events that feature the high school students and programs. Cumulus radio as a part of the community has always assisted with the promotion of INSiiGHTS events that recognize and support the high school and middle school students.

INSiiGHTS has their Third Annual Dr. Arthur Woodard Academic Student of the Game Award Dinner on May 6th to recognize nearly 35 students and their parents. INSiiGHTS and the sponsor of this event, the Woodard Foundation of Miami take great pride in having only one recognition award and that it’s for the student with the Highest Academic Award and community participation selected by the participating high school.

INSiiGHTS continues to give back by the creation of it’s Jimmy Sauls Leadership Academy. The second year of the Academy that utilizes presenters from the community to speak to high school and middle school students about various topics to guide, inspire and motivate to higher levels of accomplishment. The Leon County Sheriff Department and Sheriff Walt McNeil along with Tallahassee Northside Kiwanis have been prime supporters of this endeavor to help the youth of the community.

INSiiGHTS hosted the first ever Mack Clayton Memorial Basketball Tournament in Daytona Beach during this past Thanksgiving break for high school boys and girls basketball teams. Thomasville High boys, Florida High girls and the Godby girls were a part of the initial tournament.

INSiiGHTS also completed their first ever basketball clinic, the second weekend in April in its quest to educate basketball enthusiasts into techniques, theories and applications in the game of basketball. INSiiGHTS again reached into the community and highlighted past and current coaches to serve as presenters; Gene Granger from Maclay High School, Claudette Farmer, Rickards Athletic Director and former head coach at Florida A&M University, Ahmad Aliyy former girls head coach at FAMU High School and Mickey Clayton former head men’s coach and head women’s coach at Florida A&M University.

This is a local production that has generated a lot of support from the greater Tallahassee and South Georgia community. It is an example of a program that shows what a community can do to support use athletics to highlight its students and work to support each other.
